What To Expect During Your Small Dog’s Grooming Session

From the warm welcome, comprehensive discussion about your grooming requirements to a individually tailored positive grooming experience, you’ll both leave feeling happy and relaxed.

Step-by-Step Grooming Process

When you first come to our dog groomers in Darlinghurst, we’ll start by having a chat about what you’re after for your dog’s grooming, discussing any requests in detail.
We then soak them in our big red bath using all natural gentle products, though we can use medicated shampoos if you prefer.
From there, we’ll dry them off and remove any tangles. If any changes need to be made because of a heavily knotted or matted coat, we will always discuss your options before proceeding. They will always look cute, no matter the outcome!
Once your dog’s coat has been transformed, we finish with a dog specific essential oil spray to complete their experience (optional).
They’ll then wait with us or head back to the daycare, depending on your booking.

Time Required for a Groom

Our grooming generally takes 2 hours, though it varies by dog. If you’ve got a young puppy, an anxious dog, or a senior pooch, we may take longer. We will always give you 30 minutes’ notice before we finish.

Hand Stripping

$90 per hour. Groom includes nails, hygiene, bath & finishing. The actual grooming generally doesn’t go longer than 2.5/3 hours. We think they’ve had enough of us fussing over them by then. We may give them a couple a short breaks during their time with us if we feel they need it.

We had a great experience with darlo dogs! Booking was quick (it’s not always easy to get an appointment with a groomer) and the staff was lovely. They were accommodating of my tight schedule on the day of the appointment. I asked for a short groom and a teddy bear face and they did exactly that! My dog looked very handsome! FAQs

How old does my puppy need to be before their first groom?

Once they have had their second vaccination, we can start introducing them to grooming slowly. Select the Puppy Tidy option, and when you come in, we’ll discuss what to expect. We’re so glad you want to start them on this journey early and in a positive way!

How long does grooming take?

Each groom takes approximately 2 hours. We will send you a text 30 mins before they are ready to be picked up.

Can my dog hang out once they have been groomed?

If you have a small dog you can add on a half day of daycare (total of 5 hours) or a full day of daycare. Daycare becomes cheaper doing it this way too! If its your first time, your small dog is more than welcome to add on a Temperament Trial (total of 5 hours).

Medium and Large dogs can add on a dog minding fee. We give you 30 mins notice before the end of the groom and an additional 30 mins free before we need to start charging per hour.

What products do you use? My dog has sensitive skin.

We only use natural products to bathe your dog and finishing off with a dog approved essential oils spray. The shampoo and conditioner we use is Dr Zoo but please bring in your own if you prefer.
